Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 sold 1,238,200 copies worldwide during launch week, making it the biggest entertainment launch of all time until it was dethroned by Grand Theft Auto V which sold approximately 14 million copies worldwide within three days of its release. Within 24 hours of going on sale in Japan on March 15, 2010, the game sold 1 million copies, being worth ¥8 billion (~$80 million). In the United States, the game sold 1.4 million copies in its first week, making it the biggest entertainment launch of all time until being dethroned by Grand Theft Auto V which sold approximately 13 million copies worldwide within three days of its release. In a relatively short period of 4 weeks, it became one of the fastest-selling games in history. The game shipped 1.5 million copies before any hotfixes or patches were applied to its retail version and another 500,000 during a patch that was released on April 20 prior to the launch of CoD: Modern Warfare 3; these numbers are less than what Infinity Ward predicted on their February 2010 "state of development" presentation. This causes the game to be one of the most patched Call of Duty games ever, with 77 different hotfixes (mostly small) and 19 patches (mostly large) by May 31, 2010. The PC version's Steam page was removed on April 15. The HotFix 1 patch was released to correct issues with the sound bug and other bugs. Significant issues concerning performance were addressed in HotFix 2 and the Final HotFix all of which were released prior to and during June. The Final Hotfix succeeded in stabilizing many multiplayer issues, but did not fix the domination bug or zed bug which still existed at launch day for some users. The Final HotFix also included some new features such as an updated multiplayer scoreboard, the ability to see enemy nametags through walls in Hardcore matches when using the killstreak map modifier, and the removal of friendly fire in Hardcore matches when using the suicide or teamkiller map modifiers. The PlayStation 3 version has not been patched, but retains all of its original bugs, glitches and crashes. On August 12, 2014 Sony released a PS3 title update which disabled trophies/achievements related to multiplayer on any retail disc copy of the game. The same update was launched on Xbox 360 three days later. This was done because "Infinity Ward was unable to fix these issues with an upcoming title update. 8eeb4e9f32 36
